Summerhill 4x4 Family & Fun Day and Expo

Venue: Natie's Farm / Perry's View, 3km from Hazyview on the R536 towards Sabie.

This extremely popular family event is the highlight of the local 4x4 community and is not to be missed by anyone interested in this fast growing action sport. Of all the 4x4 events in the area, this one is surely the king of entertainment, and has attracted more than 3000 persons in the past years - greater numbers are expected this year after last year’s highly successful and attractive event. The action packed fun day will be presented on the scenic banks of the Sabie River, just outside Hazyview.

The parents of Summerhill Preparatory School are the hosts for this event, raising funds annually to develop a very unique little farm school. The school is a self-funded, multi racial, pre-primary and primary preparatory independent school situated just outside Hazyview on the Sabie road in Mpumalanga. The school operates as a community provider to the farming community, residential townships and surrounding rural area, and has been registered with ISASA (Independent Schools Association of South Africa). A property was donated and the school buildings erected by the parents. A spectacular sports field, tennis court and computer centre have been built from previous fundraisers, however the school is growing and we are planning future developments!

The event has inspired the ongoing success and development of this independent school. This well-known fun day and Expo attracts contestants, spectators, sponsors and exhibitors from all over Mpumalanga, especially Hazyview, White River, Nelspruit, Sabie, Lydenburg and even as far afield as Gauteng.

To make an event like this possible we have to rely on sponsors, and by the nature of the event, each sponsor is offered an excellent, far reaching marketing platform to expose their brand as well as their products to a wide spectrum of the community interested in motoring, agriculture and outdoor activities. Exhibition space is allocated according to sponsor’s requirements.

The main attraction to competitors and spectators is the custom built obstacle course which consists of eight competitive sections and the showstoppers. The course is designed to accommodate five different classes to be tested in a fun and safe environment (Short Wheel Base, Long Wheel Base, Modified Short Wheel Base, Modified Long Wheel Base, and Special Vehicles). Fantastic prizes can be won by the winners of these classes, as well as for other classes like Best Co-driver, Ladies Driver and Best Exhibitor.

A host of other attractions promises to entertain the whole family for the day, including a diverse range of outdoor exhibits, the Windhoek Experience beer tent, food stalls and entertainment. Pancakes are on the menu, as well as the famous peri-peri prego’s, boerewors rolls, vegetarian- and chicken dishes, curry & rice and coffee and cakes.

A variety of safe activities will keep children of all ages busy, including face painting, jumping castles, a giant slide, clowns, puppet theatre, pony rides and "boeresport". The famous 4 x 4 cake icing competition will be offered again this year – it always has been the highlight on the kid’s menu!

Huge spectator prizes are up for grabs, so join us in the fun! The obstacles offer excellent spectator value - the mud bath being the most adventurous! The day rounds off with the prize giving, warm outdoor bonfires, dinner and an outdoor DJ disco with musical entertainment for the survivors. Remember to pack a warm jacket for the cooler evening!

Competitors for the 4x4 competition can enter by downloading the entry forms from our website.
